When I came up with the idea for BuzzMeIn and decided to give it a go, all that's missing was a name - and a domain. Countless hours were spent thinking of names, checking domain name availabilities and starting over. It seemed every time I came up with a name, the domain name was already taken (even if it wasn't used). Everyone who wants to bring their project to life on the internet goes through this.

The name that kept coming back - because it was short and simple - was "Buzz Me In". Only problem was that the .com domain was already taken. After some back and forth I settled on the .in domain 🎉 and buzzme.in was born.

Fast forward 2+ years I still like the name. I created a logo. I created a logo. I built up the product. But it's becoming more and more obvious to me that most people are not quite ready for other TLD (top level domains), e.g. .com, .org, than the most common ones.

And most people might not know that .in is actually the TLD of India. I met some really nice people from there and I'd love to visit one day, but BuzzMeIn is not from India nor does it even work there - we're still US & Canada only.
But BuzzMeIn is made in Canada, and it's first customers are in Canada. So it seems fitting to me to switch to buzzmein.ca 🇨🇦 🇨🇦 🇨🇦

If you're wondering why not .ca from the beginning... I don't know. Maybe the way .in lends itself to BuzzMeIn, maybe because I couldn't get the .com domain to appeal more to our neighbours down south of the border.

What does that mean for you?! Not much actually. For quite some time the site will be available under both, buzzme.in and buzzmein.ca domains. Any emails you will receive will now come from our .ca domain. And eventually we might retire the old domain, or maybe not.
